A true institution on Vienna's fine-dining scene. Expect the unexpected: Markus Mraz and his son Lukas's menu is based on a surprise concept – only the ingredients are revealed in advance. The experience unfolds over 13 small, distinctive courses, far removed from the mainstream and typically centred on a single star ingredient, which forms the basis of the menu. A memorable example is the "kimchi börek", in which aromatic sika venison meets vibrant, tangy kimchi, elevated by fine shavings of Périgord truffle. The setting is chic, modern and relaxed. At the chef's table by the open kitchen, diners find themselves right in the middle of the action. Service is charming, attentive, and highly professional – with special credit to the sommelier, who maintains a terrific cellar and provides imaginative, beautifully balanced wine pairings. The terrace in the courtyard is another delightful bonus.
